Pre Season Previews: July 4th sees Huntly and Wick set the ball rolling
Wick Academy and Huntly will become the first Highland League clubs to return to official action tomorrow afternoon when they play their first pre-season fixtures. The Scorries will take the ferry across to Kirkwall to take on an Orkney Select side while Ross County are the visitors to Christie Park.

Starting in the north, Academy co-boss Richard Hughes is looking for his charges to continue their superb end-of-season form as they set up their preparations for the 2009-10 campaign. Speaking to http://www.highlandleague.net/, he said:

Hughes expects The Scorries to make the trip with a full squad, including the reigning Highland League Player of the Year Richard MacAdie. Him and co-boss Ian Munro may also use the game as a scouting mission. Hughes explained:

"Everybody should be there on Saturday and they are itching to get going. We will be taking a few youth boys across with us to get a good look at them and we'll also get a look at what's available in Orkney.

"Obviously with where we are geographically, we look to bring in our own local, youth players. We tried to bring Craig Gunn in but we weren't successful and we wish him all the best at Elgin. But
