It has been confirmed, as has been discussed for some time on the Rumours Page, that Deveronvale will pay tribute to long-serving defender/midfielder Mark Chisholm with a testimonial match this summer against a familiar foe. The match will be the culmination of a series of events that have been unveiled to honour the player for his decade of service to the Banff club.
In an unusual but shrewd move, Chisholm's testimonial fixture will be against Highland League opposition when Buckie Thistle visit Princess Royal Park on Saturday July 17th (kick off 3.00 pm).
It is sure to be a fixture that will capture the imagination of the fans. Not only is the game one of the biggest crowd pullers on the Highland League calendar year in, year out but a number of Chisholm's former team mates from championship success in 2003 and 2006 will link up with the Vale team on the day for a game that is officially being billed as ‘Mark Chisholm's Vale XI v Buckie Thistle XI.'
Coming either a fortnight or three weeks before the anticipated start of the 2010-11 SHFL season, the match will give both sets of supporters the opportunity to gauge their side's prospects ahead of the new campaign against top quality Highland League opponents.
Chisholm has chosen Buckie as opponents for his game due to his links with the town where he currently lives and has a number of friends and family who have all contributed to his enjoyment of the keenly-contested Vale v Buckie clashes down the years.
